Long detours await as Riverbank closes Stanislaus bridge off and on into mid-April
A street paving project in Riverbank will require weekday daytime closures of its bridge over the Stanislaus River.
They will run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday, April 3, to Friday, April 14, according to a news release.
Drivers needing to cross the river will have to detour about three miles to McHenry Avenue, north of Modesto, or about eight miles to Highway 120 in Oakdale.
The paving will be done on First Street, which approaches the bridge from the south. The work will extend as far as Atchison Street in downtown Riverbank.
“Using an alternate route during this time will help avoid long delays and frustration,” according to an email from City Hall.
The bridge will be open on weeknights and weekends, including Easter. This will allow easy access to Jacob Myers Park, a popular spot on the north bank of the Stanislaus.
First Street becomes Santa Fe Road at the bridge. Santa Fe runs about five miles northwest to Escalon.
