Modesto faces moderate to high risk of allergy symptoms this week. These tips can help

When we think of “allergy season,” we might think of the seasonal spring weather that comes with it. While we haven’t seen many sunny days since the equinox, allergens still are in the Modesto air.

Weather.com predicts a moderate to high risk of allergy symptoms for the area over the next two weeks.

Here’s what to expect:

Allergy forecast

Allergy forecasting website Pollen.com rates pollen levels from zero (low) to 12 (high).

Pollen levels will increase to the high range through Sunday. Friday levels are expected to be 8.6, Saturday 8.5 and Sunday 9.

Common allergens

Tree pollen, grass pollen and ragweed pollen are among the three worst symptom aggravators, according to The Weather Channel.

While there is a fairly low risk right now of grass and ragweed pollen floating in the air, pollen from trees is predicted to be high in the area Friday.

Tips to manage allergies

The Weather Channel suggests showering and changing clothes after being outdoors for those who wish to reduce their allergy symptoms this week to remove pollen you may pick up.

To minimize indoor pollen, keep your windows shut and use HEPA air purifiers to filter allergens.

Check the weather to learn when conditions such as high winds increase pollen levels.
