A man killed while operating a tractor in a La Grange-area orchard over the weekend has been identified as a Riverbank resident.

Raymundo Yepez, 53, was working for a tree-removal company in an orchard in the 1600 block of West Olsen Road around 5 p.m. Saturday when he somehow became pinned between a tractor tire and a tree, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.

People working with Yepez were able to free him but he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Both the Sheriff’s Office and the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health are investigating the incident.

A GoFundMe.com account, titled simply “Raymundo Yepez,” was set up by his niece Elizabeth Yepez, to help his family. She wrote on the page, “He was a hardworking man, constantly sacrificing to support his family, his greatest love. My uncle is survived by his wife and three children.”

Yepez’s children are sons ages 26 and 9 and a 15-year-old daughter.
