Union Pacific investigating derailment of train cars in Riverbank

Modesto Bee file

Union Pacific is investigating why train cars were derailed early Monday morning in Riverbank, spokeswoman Robynn Tysver wrote in an email to The Bee.

Four yellow Union Pacific cars derailed around 3:45 a.m. Feb. 20. The train immediately was halted near the intersection of Claus and Patterson roads, Tysver said. Three cars remained upright and one was leaning over.

No one was reported injured during the incident, Tysver said. There were no hazardous or toxic materials released, she said, and images taken at the scene show nothing at all spilled.
