Sonora man dies of injuries two days after hydroplaning crash near Oakdale
A Sonora man who was ejected from a vehicle during a collision east of Oakdale over the weekend has died of his injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified the man on Wednesday as 23-year-old Eriqjames Wilson.
Wilson was the driver of a 2000 Audi that hydroplaned on Highway 108-120 near Lancaster Road on Saturday night. According to the CHP, Wilson was traveling west and passing another motorist at about 70 mph.
When the Audi hydroplaned, it left the roadway and overturned, ejecting Wilson, who was not wearing a seatbelt.
He was taken to Doctors Medical Center and died Monday.
Wilson’s passengers, men ages 27 and 19, were wearing their safety restraints and suffered only minor injuries. They were not transported for treatment.
