Woman killed in hit-and-run collision in west Modesto. Driver of small, older pickup sought

A Modesto woman was killed in a hit-and-run collision in west Modesto early Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Just after 4 a.m., the woman was walking east across Carpenter Road, between Waverly Drive and Paradise Road, when she was hit by a southbound vehicle.

The vehicle, believed to be a small, dark-colored, older model pickup, fled the scene, according to the CHP.

The woman, who had not been identified as of Monday morning, died at the scene.
