Woman fatally struck by freight train along South Seventh Street
A woman died Thursday afternoon when she was hit by a freight train on the tracks along South Seventh Street.
The collision occurred around 1:15 p.m. under the Hatch Road overpass. Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene but Union Pacific railroad police will handle the investigation, Sgt. Erich Layton said.
Information about the woman’s identity or what she was doing prior to the collision was not immediately available.
