Driver who died in fiery Grayson crash identified as Livingston resident

The driver of a Dodge Ram pickup who died in a head-on crash near Grayson on Thursday afternoon has been identified as a Livingston man.

Kevin Mendoza, 28, was driving east on West Grayson Road, east of Shiloh Road, when he crossed double yellow lines to enter the westbound lane to pass the vehicle in front of him, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Ram collided head-on with a big rig and both vehicles caught fire.

Mendoza died at the scene. The driver of the big rig, a Modesto resident, was not injured.

A gofundme.com account, titled simply “Kevin Mendoza,” has been established to help his family.

Oakdale resident Aaron Quinn said in an email to The Bee, “This guy was an incredible person, awesome husband, outstanding stepfather to a special-needs son and father to his daughter. He ... passed away very tragically while driving home from work.”
