CHP reports Highway 99 fatal vehicle-vs.-pedestrian incident in Ceres

The California Highway Patrol reported a person was killed Saturday afternoon on northbound Highway 99 in Ceres. The incident backed up traffic for at least a couple of miles.

It appeared to involve a vehicle and a pedestrian, according to the CHP’s Traffic Incident Information Page. It was reported at 4:15 p.m. near Herndon Avenue.

The Traffic Incident Information Page reported authorities closed the northbound No. 3 lane. As of 5:15 p.m., the CHP was awaiting the arrival of the coroner. Firefighters also were on scene.
