Two groups set up demonstrations outside of the Planned Parenthood office on McHenry near Orangeburg. A “Straight Pride” rally was planned for 11 a.m., with a counter-protest set up in the same area.
Around 11:20 a.m., Modesto police declared an unlawful assembly and are directing the protesters to disperse. Officers in tactical gear are on the scene and moving people away from the area.
“McHenry Avenue is currently closed from Orangeburg Avenue to Granger Avenue as we clear protesters from the area,” police said in a post on the department’s Facebook page. Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
