Pedestrian killed when struck while running across road in south Modesto, CHP reports

A female pedestrian running across a street in south Modesto was struck and killed by a car early Sunday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported at 12:35 a.m. and occurred on the 400 block of South Ninth Street, just south of River Road.

According to a CHP incident summary, the female was running west across the southbound lanes when she was struck by a Toyota Camry. She suffered head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pedestrian had not been positively identified as of Sunday morning. The Camry driver, a 31-year-old Modesto man, was not injured.
