A search continued Monday following a suspected drowning Sunday at Lake Camanche in Calaveras County.

Sheriff’s Department dive teams and a California Highway Patrol helicopter searched the lake Sunday for a 14-year-old boy who went missing in the water. The search was called off Sunday evening at the reservoir, 52 miles northeast of Stockton.

In the latest update, divers recovered the body of the teenager around 7:20 p.m. Monday.

The Calaveras Consolidated Fire District said in a Facebook post the boy was last seen 200 yards offshore. The Calaveras and Amador county dive teams were involved in the search operation.

A fire chaplain was consulting with the family.
