46-year-old Oakdale man dies in racing event crash at Columbia Airport near Sonora

A Stanislaus County man died Friday in a crash at a racing event held at Columbia Airport near Sonora.

The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as Nathan Henson, 46, of Oakdale, according to MyMotherLode.com.

After 6 p.m., Henson reportedly was driving a Jeep that overturned during the racing on a closed part of the runway. Henson’s vehicle rolled multiple times. The driver died at the scene.

The racing event was held the day before the Father’s Day Fly-In at Columbia Airport that included historic aircraft, music and other activities.
