Second alarm called for Ceres duplex fire. There’s a commercial structure fire call nearby
Crews are fighting a fire at a duplex on the 2000 block of Glen Ridge Drive in Ceres.
About 1:20 p.m., a second alarm was sounded for the fire, which appears to be burning in both sides of the shared structure.
Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Eric DeHart said occupants got out safely.
Images shared with The Bee by DeHart show smoke pouring out of the roof and vents in what is likely shared attic space. Stanislaus Consolidated, Modesto and Ceres firefighters are on scene.
About 1:50 p.m., the dispatch scanner said a commercial structure fire alarm was sounding at Mitchell Road and Dale Avenue, just southwest of the residential fire.
Scanner communications indicated the commercial call was for Joaquin Roofing on Dale Court. DeHart said the fire ended up being vegetation burning between the roofing company and the Harvest Hall.
It was not immediately clear whether the second fire was caused by airborne burning material from the duplex fire.
