Fire quickly under control Tuesday near Don Pedro Reservoir. Watch video

A fire that broke out Tuesday afternoon south of Highway 132 near Don Pedro Reservoir was quickly contained, Cal Fire said.

Cal Fire’s Mariposa-Merced district responded just after 1 p.m. to the area of Parasio Boulevard and Alamo Drive, east of La Grange and south of the reservoir, an operator said.

The fire reached 23 acres but was contained within a couple of hours. It was expected to be fully under control Tuesday evening, the operator said. Several engines and a prevention officer were still on scene around 3:30 p.m., with other units already having been relieved.

The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office was alerted for possible evacuations because some structures were threatened. Some outbuildings burned, but the operator did not know if any evacuation advisories or orders had actually been given.
