Two dead in rollover crash on Briggsmore Avenue east of Oakdale Road in Modesto
Two people were killed in a crash on East Briggsmore Avenue east of Oakdale Road early Sunday, according to the Modesto Fire Department.
Crews responded to a report of a single vehicle rollover with people possibly trapped, according to a battalion chief’s incident summary. The crash was reported about 1:17 a.m., Modesto police Lt. Mike Hammond said.
At the scene, responders found the vehicle on its roof. From a photo released by the Fire Department, it appears to be a dark-colored SUV.
Nearby were two adult males who’d been ejected as the vehicle overturned several times, Hammond said. Both men were declared dead at scene.
The Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating the crash. All lanes of East Briggsmore being closed from Oakdale Road to Lakewood Avenue were closed for a few hours.
