Modesto man, 30, identified as pedestrian struck and killed on Briggsmore early Thursday
A 30-year-old Modesto man was killed when struck by a car on Briggsmore Avenue west of Roselle Avenue on Thursday morning. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified him as David Klingenfuss.
About 3:30 a.m., officers got a call reporting the car vs. pedestrian crash. The driver, who had been eastbound, remained on scene and cooperated with officers, said Modesto Police Department spokesman Sgt. Kalani Souza. There is no indication drugs or alcohol factored in the crash, he said.
Eastbound Briggsmore was closed for several hours between Oakdale Road and Roselle (which becomes Lakewood Avenue south of the Briggsmore intersection) for the investigation.
