The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department is investigating several incidents in which vehicles were hit by gunfire in east Stanislaus County over the past month.

The most recent incident occurred at Albers Road and Dusty Lane, where a woman’s vehicle was struck by a bullet while she was driving at about 3:35 p.m. Thursday, according to Sgt. Luke Schwartz.

He said there is nothing that indicates the woman was targeted, like gang affiliation or other criminal involvement.

Schwartz said there have been similar incidents in other remote locations on the east side of the county. The other incidents happened in March. No injuries have been reported.

Schwartz said no link has been established between the incidents but detectives and a crime analyst are investigating the shootings. It hasn’t been determined if anyone was targeted or if any of the incidents involved “an errant round fired in remote, expanse locations,” he said.

The “community can rest assured we are investigating and will do what we can to bring some resolution to each case,” Schwartz said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward. Tips also can be submitted via www.stancrimetips.org.
