Eight injured in several-vehicle crash on Briggsmore overpass, Modesto Fire reports
A collision on the Briggsmore Avenue overpass of Highway 99 late Saturday afternoon resulted in eight patients being sent to hospitals, according to the Modesto Fire Department.
“This triggered an MCI (mass casualty incident) alert to area hospitals,” Deputy Chief Darin Jesberg told The Bee in a text message Sunday morning.
The crash involved seven vehicles, according to a Modesto Police Department watch commander. The Fire Department said it happened about 5:20 p.m. and that one person had to be extricated from a vehicle.
No information was available Sunday morning on the severity of injuries, the circumstances of the crash or whether there were children involved.
