The accident happened at about 6:40 p.m. Friday just north of Main Street in Jamestown, a news release said. The pedestrian was a 35-year-old man from Sonora, but his name was not released as of Monday morning.
The release said Robert Campbell, 65, of Modesto was driving the 2022 Chevrolet pickup north. The pedestrian had been on the shoulder but suddenly entered the northbound vehicle lane, giving Campbell no time to take evasive action, the CHP said.

The crash is under investigation, but alcohol and drugs are not suspected, the release said. The pedestrian’s name will be released after his family is notified.
