Oakdale motorcycle officer injured after being struck by car

An Oakdale police officer was injured Monday while attempting to make a traffic stop on his motorcycle, according to a department press release.

The officer, whose name was not released, was headed south around 2 p.m. on South Fifth Avenue, near J Street. Another driver was headed north.

While making a left turn, the vehicle struck the officer, OPD said.

The officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The driver was not cited or arrested, and OPD did not provide any more information about the driver’s identity.
