Tuolumne man identified in fatal crash on Highway 120 outside Knights Ferry

Merced Sun-Star file

A man who died in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday on Highway 120 east of Knights Ferry has been identified by the California Highway Patrol as a Tuolumne resident.

Clay Aho, 33, was traveling east on Highway 120 in a Chevrolet pickup truck, CHP Officer Steve Machado said.

He was east of Tulloch Dam Road when his truck left the roadway for unknown reasons, overturned several times and came to a stop in the dirt and rock median dividing 120.

Investigators believe he died inside his truck sometime in the early morning hours, but his vehicle wasn’t reported until a passerby called it in around 7:45 a.m., Machado said.

Aho was not wearing a seat belt at the time, Machado said.

Anyone with information on this crash is asked to contact the Sonora CHP office at 209-984-3944.
