Motorcyclist killed in collision on Modesto’s McHenry Avenue

A motorcyclist died Saturday afternoon in a collision on McHenry Avenue at Rumble Road in Modesto.

The accident was reported shortly after 1 p.m. at the north Modesto intersection, Modesto Police Lt. Steve Stanfield said. He confirmed the motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries.

According to Stanfield, a woman was driving south on McHenry and turning into the Batteries and Bulbs parking lot just north of the intersection with Rumble when the motorcycle hit the front left side of her car.

“It appears at this time that possibly the motorcyclist had gone through the red light,” Stanfield said at the scene.

The collision knocked the Buick around and into a traffic sign. The motorcyclist was ejected about 30 feet and died at the scene. He was a male believed to be in his 20s, Stanfield said.

The Buick driver, a woman who was alone in her car, was not injured. Their identities were not released.
