First baby of 2022 in Stanislaus County makes debut at 12:26 a.m. in Turlock

What is probably Stanislaus County’s first baby of 2022 arrived at Turlock’s Emanuel Medical Center at 12:26 a.m. Saturday.

Brianna and Lewis Ornelas of Turlock are the parents of the baby boy, whom they named Nicolas, said Krista Deans, spokeswoman for Emanuel owner Tenet Healthcare.

Nicolas weighed in at 7 pounds, 14 ounces, and measured 20.5 inches. He joins three older brothers in the family.

Modesto’s Doctors Medical Center had its first birth nearly three hours later, at 3:06 a.m., Deans said (Tenet owns both Doctors and Emanuel).

Haylee and Phillip of Modesto — their last names were not released — welcomed a baby boy they named Messiah, Deans said. He weighed 6 pounds, 3 ounces, and measured 18.5 inches.

And three hours after that, Kaiser Modesto Medical Center had its first birth of the year. Kaiser spokesman Jordan Scott said the birth of a baby girl, Angel Kaur Mann, to Ramandeep Kaur occurred at 6:02 a.m. Kaur’s sister, Sukhie, is a nurse educator for Kaiser.

Memorial Medical Center did not release any information about births Saturday.

“We aren’t participating in New Year’s baby media opportunities this year,” spokesman Gary Zavoral said in an email.
