Pedestrian struck and killed at five-way intersection on Paradise Road in west Modesto
A pedestrian died Tuesday evening after being struck by a vehicle at a five-way intersection in west Modesto, police said.
Modesto Police Department officers responded around 5:45 p.m. to the intersection of Paradise Road, Beverly Drive and Wade and Harris avenues for a pedestrian who had been seriously injured in a collision, Sgt. Dan Starr said. The person was transported to a hospital but died either there or en route.
The driver remained on scene after the crash and was cooperating with the police, Starr said. The cause of the crash was unclear Tuesday night.
Starr did not have any additional information about the pedestrian or the vehicle.
He said Modesto-area fatal collisions have been “through the roof” lately. He said drivers can help prevent these crashes by reducing their speed and making sure to watch out for pedestrians and bicyclists.
We will have more information on the crash as it becomes available.
