It’s leaf pickup time in Modesto. What you need to know

If the colder mornings and shorter days are not enough, here’s another hint it’s fall in Modesto — city crews picking up leaves. These crews can be found in neighborhoods throughout the city. Which only makes sense, given the abundance of trees that line neighborhood streets, providing shade in the summer and work for crews in the fall. There is no set schedule for leaf pickup, according to the city’s website. Residents are asked to put as many leaves as will fit into their green waste cans; the remainder are picked up from the street. In December, crews only pick up leaves.
