DA: Man faces 36 years after jury finds he assaulted, terrorized ex-girlfriend
The Stanislaus County District Attorney’s office announced that an Oakland man has been convicted of two forcible sex crimes, stalking and felony assault of a former girlfriend who lives in Modesto.
Charles Ranando Stewart Jr., 32, faces a maximum sentence of 36 years in prison when he is sentenced Nov. 30 in Stanislaus County Superior Court, according to a news release.
From Oct. 15, 2020, to Dec. 23, 2020, “Stewart repeatedly terrorized his 31-year-old ex-girlfriend at her home in Modesto ... ,” according to the release. The release said that included threatening her with a knife and breaking into her home.
After a two-week trial, the jury deliberated for about three hours on Oct. 25 before convicting Stewart of two forcible sex crimes, robbery, burglary, felony domestic battery, felony assault and stalking, according to the release.
