When it comes to Halloween, tradition is the plan for Modesto Bee readers when polled about what they’ll be doing on Sunday evening.

Most who voted plan to pass out candy to children who come knocking — 26 percent of the 202 who participated in the poll.

And there will be children out there, with 23 percent saying they will take the kids trick-or-treating around their neighborhoods.

But 21 percent in the poll will turn off the lights and pretend not to be home.

An organized event like a costume party or trunk-or-treat was the plan among 10 percent of voters, 11 percent will be doing something else and 8 percent will leave the lights on but not answer the door because of COVID-19.
