Pinecrest Fish Faire invites young anglers
The 21st annual Pinecrest Fish Faire happens Saturday, a chance for young anglers to enjoy the sport at the popular Tuolumne County lake.
The Stanislaus National Forest is putting on the free event for children up to age 16, accompanied by adults. It is part of National Get Outdoors Day.
Children can take part in fishing and casting contests with their own gear, take in educational displays and other activities, and enjoy a hot dog lunch at the Pinecrest Amphitheater. Bill Roberson will entertain with humor and music. Smokey Bear, Woodsy Owl and Sammy & Frances Fish also will be on hand.
Registration will be from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the amphitheater. The contests will run from 8 to 11:30 a.m.
The event is co-sponsored by the Pinecrest Lake Resort, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Kiwanis Club of Sonora and Stanislaus National Forest Employees Association.
