CHP: Turlock man dies after motorcycle, SUV collide on Albers Road outside Modesto
A 44-year-old Turlock motorcyclist died Tuesday morning after a collision with an SUV on Albers Road just north of Yosemite Boulevard, east of Empire.
The crash was reported just before 7 a.m. The California Highway Patrol’s preliminary investigation finds that the motorcyclist, identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office as Ryan Bolz, was riding south on Albers.
A 2012 Chevrolet SUV that had been northbound on Albers was in the center turn lane. Driver Logan Prahser, 25, of Oakdale was intending to turn left and pull into a business there, the CHP reported.
Prahser began the turn, entering the southbound lanes directly into Bolz’s path, according to a news release on the crash. The motorcycle, a 2007 Suzuki, struck the right side of the SUV, ejecting Bolz.
The rider was taken by ambulance to Memorial Medical Center, where he died. Prahser was unhurt, the CHP said.
Bolz was wearing safety gear including a helmet, the CHP said, and Prahser was buckled. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to factor in the crash.
Traffic in the area was affected as the scene was investigated and cleared, but all lanes were open by about 8 a.m., according to the CHP’s online incident information page.
