Turlock woman killed in early morning traffic collision in Ceres, police say

Ceres Police Department

A 65-year-old woman from Turlock was killed in a traffic collision Saturday morning in Ceres, according to police.

Officers arrived at the scene at Hatch Road and Central Avenue after the 6:47 a.m. call and found two pickup trucks had collided in the intersection, a 1994 black and silver Chevrolet S10 and a 2003 black Chevrolet Silverado, according to Officer Freddie Ortiz.

The female driver of the S10 was reported dead at the scene. The male driver of the Silverado, identified as Raul Soto Hernandez, 53, of Modesto, was taken to a hospital in Modesto, Ortiz said. There were no passengers in either car.

According to Ortiz, the S10 was going east on Hatch. The Silverado was traveling north on Central, making a left turn onto Hatch. The two trucks collided in the middle of the intersection.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.

Drugs and-or alcohol do not appear to have played a role in the wreck. Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision, Ortiz said.
