Modesto woman dies in crash on Hatch road in Ceres
Ceres Police are investigating a collision that resulted in the death of a Modesto woman Monday morning.
Martha Guzman, 55, was driving a red Toyota Corolla east on Hatch Road, just west of Central Avenue, at about 6:30 a.m. when for unknown reasons she drove over the concrete median, said officer Freddie Ortiz.
The Toyota spun counterclockwise as it went over the median and a westbound Chevrolet pickup collided with its right side.
Guzman died at the scene, Ortiz said.
The man driving the pickup, 18-year-old Joe Soriano, of Modesto had minor injuries and his passenger was not injured.
Ortiz said drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.
It was raining at the time of the crash and officers are investigating whether wet conditions contributed to it.
