8:20 a.m. update: CHP Officer Thomas Olsen said the big rig’s tractor already has been towed from the crash site and the trailer is up on the roadway. One lane is shut, but he does not anticipate it remaining closed until 1 p.m., as Caltrans earlier estimated.

“We are requesting people stay out of the area and seek alternate routes such as State Route 33 and 99,” he said.

Original story: The California Department of Transportation is reporting that the right lane of northbound Interstate 5 at Sperry Avenue in Patterson will be closed until about 1 p.m. Tuesday as crews clear an overturned big rig.

The crash happened about 1:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol’s online Traffic Incident Information Page. The truck slid between 50 and 70 feet down an embankment on the right side of the interstate, Caltrans said.

The CHP page says there were no injuries. We will have more information as it’s available.
