Bicyclist found down on Modesto’s Yosemite Boulevard dies

A man who’d been riding his bicycle home from work Friday night was found down at the intersection of Yosemite Boulevard and Riverside Drive and pronounced dead at the scene.

Modesto Police Department Traffic Unit Sgt. Lance Nicolai said he is confident the man was not a victim of hit-and-run but that he either died from a medical event or fell and hit his head after suffering a medical event.

A passerby saw the man and called 911 shortly after 11:30 p.m. He was still straddling his bicycle when first responders arrived.

CPR was performed, but the man, whose name has not yet been released, died at the scene.
