Two teenagers suffered major injuries in a rollover crash on Highway 99 south of Turlock Tuesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Both were in a Honda traveling south, near Lander Avenue, at about 11:15 p.m. when for unknown reasons the driver allowed the vehicle to drift into the dirt center median.

The driver lost control and the Honda began to rotate in a clockwise direction, struck the concrete barrier, then overturned several times, according to the CHP.

The driver of the Honda, an 18-year-old from Earlimart, was not wearing a seat belt. She is on life support in grave condition.

The passenger, 18-year-old Andrea Higuera of Delano, suffered major injuries including a compound fracture to her right arm and serious lacerations. She was wearing a seat belt, according to the CHP.

Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to have contributed to the collision.
