Names of Note: National parks get boost from Bronco Wine. Stan State nursing shines
Bronco Wine Co. is marking the launch of a new brand with donations to the National Park Foundation.
The company, based south of Ceres, will contribute $3 for every case it sells under the Great American Wine Co. label. They retail at a suggested $12.99 per bottle and include cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay, red blend, pinot noir, zinfandel, rosé and pinot grigio.
The promotion is scheduled to run through 2020 but could be extended, portfolio manager Rachael Kroneder said in an email.
The new wines are an offshoot of Rosenblum Cellars, one of the dozens of brands owned by Bronco.
The foundation is the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service.
“The Great American Wine Co. and the National Park Foundation’s shared commitment to preserving America’s national parks makes this collaboration a perfect pairing,” said Stefanie Mathew, senior vice president of corporate partnerships at the foundation, in a news release.
Stan State nursing
California State University, Stanislaus, has the seventh best program for registered nurses in the state, according to an industry website.
RegisteredNursing.org based its rankings of 127 programs in California mainly on success rates on state licensing exams. Chabot College in Hayward topped the fourth annual list.
The Turlock campus offers a bachelors degree in nursing and other training in the field.
And finally ...
Paul Van Konynenburg of Modesto will chair the California Transportation Commission for 2020. He has served since 2017 on the body, which allocates money for road, rail and other projects.
Van Konynenburg grows peaches, apples, cherries, apricots and almonds. He also has been involved in economic development and chaired the successful 2016 campaign for Measure L, a transportation sales tax in Stanislaus County.
