Flames tore through a house in Modesto’s airport neighborhood late Monday, threatening nearby homes before firefighters extinguished the blaze.

The fire was reported shortly after 10 p.m. at the home near the intersection of Empire and Bonnie Brae avenues, about a block west of the Modesto Airport.

Firefighters arrived and found the home in flames. The vacant house had been burned by fire on previous occasions, according to the Modesto Fire Department.

Two homes nearby were immediately threatened by the flames. Firefighters worked from the exterior of the burning house to attack the blaze.

After additional firefighters arrived, they moved to the burning home’s interior to extinguish the fire’s remaining hot spots, officials said. Firefighters did not find anyone inside the burned house.

Firefighters from the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District and the Ceres Fire Department assisted with the fire. Officials on Tuesday morning said investigators had not determined the cause of the fire.
