Modesto police respond to Beyer High for Snapchat photo showing student with gun

Modesto police responded to Beyer High School on Thursday morning after a student posted on Snapchat a photo of himself with a gun.

Another student saw the post and reported it to school staff around 10 a.m., said police Lt. Bobby Meredith.

The student in question was already in detention for an unrelated incident and was secured there until police arrived.

Meredith said officers searched the boy and his property and did not locate a gun.

Officers determined the photo had been taken some time in the past.

“He said he posted the previous picture because he didn’t want people messing with him,” Meredith said.

It was not determined whether the gun in the photo was real but the boy’s parents would be notified. The boy was not arrested.
