Woman killed in Modesto when she intentionally runs into train, witnesses tell police

A suicidal woman was killed when she ran into a train crossing B Street just east of Seventh Street in downtown Modesto on Monday afternoon, police report.

The incident happened about 4:45 p.m. Witnesses told police the women — whose identity has not been released — ran toward the train and hit its tail end, said Police Department spokeswoman Sharon Bear.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she died of her injuries.
