Woman’s body found in vehicle north of Woodward Reservoir

Stanislaus County Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating a death after a woman’s body was found north of Woodward Reservoir early Monday morning.

Someone contacted Oakdale Police Department around 2 a.m. to report a deceased person inside a vehicle near the intersection of Highway 4 and Milton Road, said Sgt. Joshua Clayton.

Oakdale Police contacted the Sheriff’s Department, which responded to the scene around 3 a.m.

Clayton said the body was that of a woman. He said investigators are not releasing any other information, including her age, until the woman is positively identified.

The vehicle was towed to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office with the body inside in order to preserve evidence, Clayton said.

He would not release details about the condition of the body or the location of the body inside the vehicle. He also would not say whether detectives are treating the death as a homicide.

It was not clear Monday morning how the person who called Oakdale Police knew the person inside the vehicle was deceased or whether detectives had spoken to that person.
