‘Star Wars’ fans out in ‘Force’ in Modesto
The Stanislaus County Library in downtown Modesto culminated its “Star Wars” Week celebration on Saturday with an “Imperial March” around the library by costumed members of the Central California Garrison of the 501st Legion, to music from composer John Williams’ “Star Wars” score. After the parade and pictures with costumed characters Darth Vader and others, fans of the film saga created by Modesto native George Lucas gathered in the downstairs auditorium to watch the 1977 classic that started it all: “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.” The week kicked off with the internationally recognized “Star Wars” Day on May 4 – as in “May the Fourth be with you.” Activities at the library included a trivia contest, a Find Yoda hunt each day in the children’s department and craft projects for kids.
