Bicyclist badly injured in collision with SUV in Oakdale

A woman bicycling on Highway 120 in downtown Oakdale was badly injured when she collided with a sport-utility vehicle at East E Street on Friday night, Oakdale police report.

The preliminary investigation revealed the bicyclist failed to yield the right of way to southbound traffic on Highway 120, an Oakdale Police Department statement said.

The driver of the SUV, Nicholas Flippini, 19, of Oakdale, reported no injuries after the 8:47 p.m. accident. The unnamed bicyclist was sent by medical helicopter from Oak Valley Hospital to a Modesto hospital. The extent of her injuries was not known, police said.
