Storm gives way to warmer, sunny weekend
Modesto picked up 0.10 inches of rain from the storm that came into the area Thursday from the Pacific Northwest, according to the Modesto Irrigation District’s downtown reading. The bulk of that, 0.07 inches, fell between the hours of 8 p.m. and midnight.
The seven-day forecast from the National Weather Service for Modesto said temperatures will break into the 80s for the mostly sunny weekend, with an anticipated high of 83 on Saturday and 85 on Sunday.
Next week’s highs are forecast to be from 78 to 80 degrees. Nights will be cool, with lows of 52 to 53 degrees through Thursday.
Stanislaus County law enforcement agencies reported no serious weather-related vehicle accidents Thursday night or Friday morning.
According to the National Park Service, Yosemite’s Tioga Road (Highway 120 through the park), Glacier Point Road and Mariposa Grove Road were temporarily closed because of snow and ice. Check current road conditions/chain requirements by calling (209) 372-0200.
