What: CVOC PUBLIC HEARING

When: Thursday, 10 a.m.

Where: CVOC, 1581 Cummins Drive, Suite 100

Info: The Central Valley Opportunity Center Inc. will conduct a public hearing for the purpose of receiving input from the community on the needs and services for low-income and/or migrant and seasonal farmworkers. Information gathered will be utilized to develop programs and services under the Community Services Block Grant Migrant and Seasonal Farm Workers Program. What: LUNCH AND LEARN PROGRAM

Where: Ridgeway’s, 2401 Orangeburg Ave.

Info: The League of Women Voters Lunch and Learn Program will feature guest speaker Peggy Fiske, Modesto Junior College financial aid counselor, who will speak on the topic of adult education. The luncheon is open to the public, cost is $13, and reservations are not required. For more information, call the league office at (209) 524-1698.

What: AGE WITH MOVEMENT

When: Friday, 7:30 a.m. to noon

Where: East La Loma Park, 2001 Edgebrook Ave.

What: VA PALO ALTO GOLDEN AGED BEARS BOWLING TOURNAMENT

When: Saturday, 1 p.m.

Where: McHenry Bowl, 3700 McHenry Ave.

Info: Fundraiser tournament will aid veterans from the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. Three games of no tap tournament bowling, separate division for men and women, trophies for first, second and third place. $10 per person. YESTERYEARS

25 YEARS AGO: Maykou M. Vang, the first female Hmong student at California State University, Stanislaus, was named the university’s international student of the year. Vang, then 22, had fled her native Laos with her family in 1975 to escape political persecution. She was picked from a field of eight nominees and four finalists to receive the honor that is given by the international program department.
