MODESTO TO REVIEW DROUGHT’S IMPACT ON WATER FUND
The City Council’s Finance Committee will get an update Monday on how the finances of Modesto’s water fund have weathered the drought. The fund has seen less revenue as city officials have urged residents to reduce their water use. Officials are concerned that water fund revenues will continue to fall because the city will be asking residents to conserve even more. Officials have said the fund has fixed costs that are difficult to reduce. The committee meets at 5 p.m. in Room 2005 on the second floor of Tenth Street Place, 1010 10th St.
PUBLIC INVITED TO PRAYER FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT, COMMUNITY
The public is invited to attend a prayer event for law enforcement Monday in front of the Modesto Police Department, 600 10th St. The event starts at 6 p.m., and the city may close part of Tenth Street to accommodate the event. The pastors will pray for the safety of officers and for the public whom they serve and protect. About two dozen pastors are expected along with police Chief Galen Carroll and Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson. Officials with other local law enforcement agencies have been invited, according to organizers.
