The 15th annual Hot Copper Car Show will be held from May 2 at the Copper Town Square on Highway 4 in Copperopolis. It is one of the largest hot rod and custom car shows in the Mother Lode, organizers say.

The free show, sponsored by the Lake Tulloch Lions Club, brings thousands of car enthusiasts to the Mother Lode the first Saturday of May each year. It runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All proceeds benefit the community through scholarships and other services. The event is made possible through sponsors from Calaveras and Tuolumne counties.

Hot rods and custom cars from throughout Northern California will be featured, organizers say. Each car owner gets a special dash plaque and will take part in the judging for the best cars at the show in a variety of categories.

The day includes raffles; and food and drink, with two bars and a light breakfast at 7 a.m. and lunch at 11 a.m. Dozens of vendors also will be present. Kids activities include face painting.

Registration is $35. The show is open to makes and models of all years, and motorcycles, too.

For more information about the show, call Ron Massei at (209) 785-4288 or Ken Osteen (209) 785-8933, or go to www.laketullochlions.org.
