Rain likely in Modesto on Saturday

A weather system is expected to bring rain to the area Saturday, but it’s unlikely many in the parched Northern San Joaquin Valley will complain about their day’s plans turning soggy.

After a partly sunny Friday, with a Modesto high of 74 according to the National Weather Service, more clouds moved in during the afternoon and evening hours. The weather service put the chance of rain for Modesto on Friday night at 60 percent. That chance rises to 70 percent Saturday. The rain – less than a tenth of an inch – is expected before noon, with a chance of showers after noon.

It’s going to be cooler, as well, with highs that have been around 80 or higher dropping to 69 Saturday. The system is a quick one; it’s expected to clear out by Sunday, bringing sunny conditions and a high of 79 degrees.

Wind gusts as high as 23 mph are expected Saturday night, continuing into Sunday.
