Turlock police: Girl falls out of car, suffers head injury

A two and a half year old girl was taken by emergency helicopter to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento on Wednesday after falling out of a car.

The door of the vehicle in which she was riding opened as it turned left onto westbound Christoffersen Parkway from northbound Geer Road at about 1 p.m., said Turlock Police Sgt. Stephen Webb.

After the girl fell out, an adult in the car grabbed her, put her back inside and drove away.

Police caught up with the car a short time later and found the girl had a head injury and was lethargic, Webb said.

A helicopter landed in a field nearby and the child was airlifted to Sacramento.

Webb did not know the girl’s condition Thursday. He also did not know if she was in a safety seat during the incident or if the parents were cited or face criminal charges.
