Modesto

What: SPRING CLEANING DROPOFF

Where: The Stratford at Beyer Park, 3529 Forest Glenn Drive

What: MOPS AND MOMSNEXT PROGRAM

When: Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m.

Where: Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Telle Center, 1600 Carver Road

Info: A program put on by Mothers of Preschoolers and MOMSnext will feature school counselor Nick Minardi, who will address the issue of bullying. Cost is $8 and includes home-cooked dinner, child care (meal provided) and program. For more information or to RSVP to attend, call (209) 529-3228.


Oakdale

What: TÍTIRI-TÁTARA PUPPET PROGRAM

When: Monday, 3:30 p.m.

Where: Oakdale branch of the Stanislaus County Library, 151 S. First Ave.

Info: The Stanislaus County Library and Casa Guanajuato will celebrate the Day of the Child with a puppet story titled “Differences.” It is a play of rod puppets that presents the adventures of three sisters: One Little Eye, Two Little Eyes and Three Little Eyes, who grow under the protection of a strange tree that has a grudge against humans. Hickman

What: SCHOOL INFORMATION AND ORIENTATION MEETING

When: Wednesday, 10 a.m.

Where: Hickman Charter School, 13306 Fourth St.

Info: Hickman Charter School is holding an open house and informational meeting to provide an overview of its program. Prior to the meeting, attendees are asked to complete an online interest application at http://hcs.hickmanschools.org/application-and-enrollment-procedures.html. Those wishing to possibly enroll for the next school year should bring birth certificates and immunization records. YESTERYEARS

50 YEARS AGO: It was announced that the monthlong Miss Stanislaus pageant would be coming to an end the next day as the first Miss Stanislaus would be crowned at Modesto Junior College Auditorium. The event was sponsored by the Modesto 20-30 Club, and there were 11 contestants who vied for the honor.
