Cooler temperatures, slight chance of rain ahead for Modesto

After a toasty weekend, it looks like a cooler work week ahead for Modesto, with a chance, albeit small, of rain.

National Weather Service forecasters predict a high of 84 degrees on Monday, a couple of degrees cooler than Sunday. The high is expected to drop into the 70s Tuesday and Wednesday, with overnight temperatures dropping into the low 50s.

Clouds are expected to move into the area Tuesday and Wednesday, with a 20 percent chance of rain on Thursday, when the high will hit about 77.

Sunny conditions are expected to return Friday.
